Christopher Gardner (Will Smith), the protagonist in the movie 'The Pursuit of Happyness', wanted to become financially successful in life so that he could provide for his son, get him good education and meet his other demands. His happiness was in financial success. Specifically, financial success by becoming a respected wall-street professional. But his true happiness was in the 'happyness' of his son. But some of us take a different path. For them financial success doesn't even count as a factor contributing to happiness. They've been successful in identifying things that give them happiness and focus their energies totally on these. For some financial success is a byproduct and they achieve fame as well, while others live and die in poverty. But even in poverty their lives are spent much happier.
Now, we wouldn't advise you to give up on financial success altogether. But while you're at it, we want you to be cognizant of what happiness truly is for you.

So the first thing you need to do is to yourself figure out what happiness truly means for you. And, once you've done that you can set out to achieve it.
